Indian industries are doing well,be it service sector or the manufacturing sector,of late all of them have been doing a reasonable job, save one.
THE TELEVISION INDUSTRY.
I believe this field has stayed stagnant for some time now. We have infinite number of channels and every day we see new channels being launched. When star-one was first launched we thought may be this would revive the moribund Indian televison but alas, the same channel has now stooped to the level of showing stupid saas bahu serials and other melodramatic soaps just like most of the other channels. Even reality shows have lost creativity, based on either song or dance(of which we have had enough), or simply baseless themes like lyrics guessing(even buffaloes are allowed in the show) etc. The point is we want more Ekta Kapoors and for god sakes no more of Ekta Kapoor. Name one original must watch show on Indian television. Comon name it. Am afraid you wouldn't be able to.
But lets see what American TV has got......
F.R.I.E.N.D.S, PrisonBreak,How I met your mother,Desperate Housewives,Drake and Josh,A moment of truth to name a few. The list is endless. Every english soap is a never seen before experience. Are we less creative ? Are we not as talented? I mean what has gone wrong with the Indian television.We are the same country which produced worldclass thrillers like Bomkesh Bakshi and Tehkikaat. A very important reason could be India is so busy producing Engineers and doctors that we are neglecting every other field-not to mention sports or cinema. So its time India wakes up and produces some soaps and serials which we would be proud,Eough Ekta Kapoor stuff.Lets bring back better Bomkesh Baksheeshs and detective Sam D'souza(lead from thekikaat). Lets save our dying televison industry.
