Is bringing back POTA such a good idea?

POTA(Prevention Of Terrorist Activities)-A brainchild of the NDA government is being seen by the opposition as the panacea to current terrorist problems.
I dont think so.
POTA which gives the police full authority to put some one under arrest for 180 days without citing reasons for the same in the court is a clear cut case of human rights violation.
Benjamin franklin said once
"They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety."
That clearly sums things up. Police in India which is quite infamous already for corruption and inefficiency might not handle this additional power well,resulting in people being unnecessarily troubled, with little results. Countries like USA and ENGLAND which learned their lessons are now on full alert for terror acts. India should take a leaf out of their books and rather than getting distracted by these irrelevant rules should try tested procedures like establishing a federal agency,exclusively for fighting terror. Thus Indian govt and opposition should respect people's liberty and should rather opt for strict and vigilant policing , rather than an over powerful inefficient one.
